About DifDesigns

DifDesigns is a home based business. My name is Diane Featherston and I have been making websites since 1999, while holding down a full time job. I have now retired after 30 years with General Electric. I have decided to supplement my pension and spare time with helping small businesses get a presence on the internet with an affordable price.

My interest in computers began in late 1995, when my husband Scott sold his drag car. He lost all interest in racing and decided to venture out new hobbies. He came home one night and said he had a new computer in the car. What were we going to do with a computer? Neither one of us had any idea how to use one. Well we stumbled around and asked questions and I was determined that this machine was not going to get the best of me.

So I started taking some computer classes at a local state college. I enrolled in several different classes and it was finally a class on web design and web graphics that got my interest. I had no idea I would take such an interest in the webdesign field and digital photography. I knew my early retirement could be soon and decided to pursue the subjects further. I started out making my own family album of pictures to show tribute to my family. I purchased a digital camera and now my family smiles for every shot because they know it could appear on the internet.

I needed to design a webpage for a class assignment. A Christmas card arrived about the same time from a close friend who had a story about her ventures in starting her own business. I called her to see if I could use her story and design her a webpage she could use and get internet presence with. She agreed and her webpage has become a complete site and is still growing today. You can find her site in my portfolio. She referred me to her contacts and more sites developed including my own for webdesigning.

Then, two very lovely sisters emailed me one day after finding my site in a search engine. They asked for help with the site they were trying to develop to promote authors and sell books on the internet. They wanted a site with things I had never tried to do, but knew could be done. What a learning experience! They were such an inspiration to me to pursue my dream in having my own home based business.

I am still continuing my studies in all fields of webdesigning and keeping updated on new techniques.

Thank you all who have had confidence in me along the way.
Diane
